Born in the year 1955 at Modi Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, India, she is the youngest daughter of Rai Bahadur G.M. Modi (Padma Bhushan) and Dayawati Modi. She is a BA First Class Graduate. She was married to Late Padam Pat Mody. She has two daughters - Isha and Aditi.
